What is a personalised pet portrait?+
A personalised pet portrait is a piece of original artwork created from a photograph of your companion. At Ma Muse & Compagnie, you choose an artistic style and we create a high-resolution digital artwork of your pet, delivered by email.
How does a custom pet portrait work?+
It takes three steps: upload a clear photograph of your companion, choose from twelve artistic styles, and we create your personalised portrait and send the high-resolution digital artwork to you by email, normally within a few hours.
Can I create a portrait from a photograph of my dog?+
Yes. We create custom dog portraits in all twelve artistic styles, from classic fine art to contemporary linocut.
Can I create a portrait of my cat?+
Yes. Custom cat portraits are one of our most popular requests and work beautifully across every style we offer.
What animals can you create portraits of?+
Almost any companion animal — dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, birds, guinea pigs, pigs, reptiles and many more. If they are part of your family, we would love to create their portrait.
What photograph should I upload?+
Choose a clear photograph where your companion is reasonably well lit and their face and distinctive features are visible. A simple smartphone photo works beautifully — there is no need for a professional photograph.
Can you create a portrait from an old photograph?+
Yes. We can work from older photographs. Because the quality of the reference photograph affects the final artwork, a clearer photograph will usually produce a better result. If a photograph is too damaged or unclear to work from, we will let you know.
How do I choose a style?+
Browse the Styles page, where each of the twelve artistic styles is shown with an example and a description of its character. When you create a portrait, you can preview your own companion in up to three styles before deciding which one to purchase.
Can I see examples before ordering?+
Yes. The Styles page and the Gallery show finished portraits in every style. You can also preview your own companion in up to three styles before you pay, so you can choose the one you love most.
What happens after I upload my photograph?+
Choose up to three artistic styles and we create a preview of your companion in each one. You then select your favourite preview, complete secure checkout, and our team carries out a final quality check before delivering your full-resolution artwork.
How much does a personalised pet portrait cost?+
A personalised digital pet portrait costs €19.99 (EUR). Additional styles from your previews can be added at €9.99 each. Payment is processed securely by Stripe.
How long does it take?+
Your digital artwork is normally created and delivered within a few hours of payment.
What do I receive?+
A high-resolution personalised digital artwork in your chosen style, delivered by email. Your purchase includes personal-use printing rights, so you can print the artwork for yourself or have it printed through a printing service.
How will I receive my artwork?+
Your finished artwork is delivered by email and is also available through your account under My Portraits. A secure download link is provided so you can save and print your portrait.
Can I request changes?+
Before purchase, you can regenerate your previews up to three times at no extra cost to explore different interpretations. After purchase, each portrait is a finished personalised artwork; if there is a problem with your order, please contact us and we will help.
Can I have more than one animal in the portrait?+
Currently, each portrait features one companion. We are working on multi-animal compositions for the future.
What payment methods are accepted?+
Payment is processed securely by Stripe. Major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express and others) are accepted. We do not store your card details.
Do you deliver to France and other European countries?+
Yes. The digital artwork is delivered by email to customers in France and across Europe, including Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Luxembourg and the United Kingdom. Prices are in euros (EUR).
What happens if my photograph is unsuitable?+
If a photograph cannot produce a good portrait — for example if it is very blurry or the companion is not visible — we will contact you and may ask for an alternative photograph or refund your order.
What happens if I'm not happy with the result?+
If there is a problem with your order, please contact us. Each portrait is a personalised artwork, and we handle concerns on a case-by-case basis. Refunds are considered individually rather than automatically, as set out in our Terms & Conditions.
Gifting a Portrait
Can I order a portrait as a gift?+
Absolutely. You can create a personalised portrait using a photograph of someone else's beloved companion. It's a thoughtful gift for dog lovers, cat lovers, horse lovers and anyone with a special animal in their life.
Does the recipient need to own the pet?+
No. You can create the portrait from a photograph you already have of their companion.
How does the recipient receive the gift?+
The finished high-resolution digital artwork is delivered by email. You can then share it with the recipient, or print and frame it as a physical gift.
What occasions is a pet portrait suitable for?+
Pet portraits can make thoughtful gifts for birthdays, Christmas, anniversaries, new pets, memorials and simply to celebrate the special bond someone has with their companion.
Do I need a professional photograph?+
No. A good-quality photograph from a phone can work beautifully. The most important thing is that the companion's face and distinctive features are clearly visible.
